Promotions are a great way to drive sales, reward loyal customers, and keep things exciting for your business. In Thrive Convenience Store, you can easily set up discounts and special offers directly from the Promotions tab.

View and Manage your Promotions

You’ll find Promotions under the second tab on your Products page.

From here, you can:

  • View/search for existing promotions at a glance

  • See which promotions are active (toggle on/off)

  • Edit or delete existing promotions

  • Click to add new promotions

Each promotion tile shows key details like discount type, category or products affected, schedule, and applied rules.

Creating a New Promotion

To create a new promotion, click “Add Promotion” in the upper right corner.

You’ll see a blank form where you can name your promotion and define how it behaves.

If you’re setting up something similar to a previous promo, you can save time by using the “Copy Rules From” dropdown in the top right to pull in settings from an existing promotion.

Every promotion has four key sections:

  1. Schedule – When the promotion runs

  2. Conditions – What qualifies for the promotion

  3. Result – What the discount does

  4. Limits – How the promotion can be used

Let’s go over each one in detail.

Schedule

The Promotion's Schedule determines when your promotion is active. You can set up both recurring and one-time offers.

You’ll choose between:

  • Unlimited Range – For recurring offers like Happy Hours that happen every week at the same time.

    • Example: “Every Friday from 5 PM – 7 PM.”

  • Limited Range – For one-time events like holiday or weekend sales.

    • Example: “November 28–December 1 for Black Friday Weekend.”

You can even have promotions that recur weekly or monthly — perfect for things like Flash Sales, or a Customer Appreciation Weekend!

Conditions

Conditions set the parameters for which products or categories the promotion applies to — and what has to happen for the discount to trigger.

At least one condition is required.

You can set conditions based on things like:

  • Product category, code, SKU, name, or ID

  • Quantity or value (e.g., “Buy 3 or more”)

  • Whether all products purchased are identical

You can also:

  • Add multiple conditions – for example, “Product is Beer” and “Quantity ≥ 2.”

  • Add another group – this lets you include more product types in the same promotion. This is especially useful for bundle deals, mix and match specials and cross-selling!

This flexibility allows you to tailor discounts to very specific buying scenarios.

Result

The Result defines what happens when all your conditions are met — essentially, what the promotion does.

You’ll choose where the discount applies:

  • To the entire order,

  • Only to the qualifying items, or

  • To additional items that are added after the qualifying ones.

Then, choose the type of discount you want to apply:

  • Percentage discount (e.g., 20% off)

  • Fixed amount discount (e.g., $1 off)

  • Fixed price discount (e.g., “Pay $5 for each item”)

After you set the type, enter the discount value — and you’re done with this section!

Limits

Finally, Limits let you control how many times and under what conditions your promotion can be used.

Here you can:

  • Limit the discount amount or redemptions per order

  • Choose whether it can be combined with other offers

This helps prevent stacking multiple discounts on one order and keeps your promos running smoothly.

When you’re done, you can either:

  • Save for Later – to keep it inactive until you’re ready, or

  • Save and Activate – to turn it on right away.

Promotion Examples

Let’s walk through three common examples to see how these settings come together.

Happy Hour

Promo Goal: Offer 20% off drinks and appetizers from 5–7 PM every Friday.

Setup:

  • Schedule: Unlimited range → Fridays, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

  • Conditions: Category = Drinks, Category = Appetizers

  • Result: 20% off order

  • Limits: Cannot combine with other promotions

  • Save and Activate

Every Friday during happy hour, all qualifying drinks and appetizers automatically apply a 20% discount at checkout — no codes or manual adjustments needed.

BOGO $1 Off

Promo Goal: When a customer buys one drink, they get another for $1 off.

Setup:

  • Schedule: Unlimited range (or set promo schedule)

  • Condition Group 1: Product = Drink A → Quantity ≥ 1

  • Condition Group 2: Product = Drink B → Quantity ≥ 1

  • Result: $1 off the total order

  • Limits: Once per order

  • Save and Activate

When a customer adds both Drink A and Drink B, the system automatically applies a $1 discount.

Note: You can also set up a percentage discount this way, just change the Result!

Category Discount

Promo Goal: Offer 10% off all coffee products for the month of November.

Setup:

  • Schedule: Limited range → November 1–30

  • Conditions: Category = Coffee

  • Result: 10% off qualifying products

  • Limits: Can combine with loyalty rewards

  • Save and Activate

During November, every coffee item automatically receives a 10% discount at checkout.

Note: Want to do a fixed amount discount, just change the Result!
