Services and Non-Inventory Products (Old Experience)

Disable inventory tracking for services and non-trackable inventory

What do oil changes, haircuts, massages, and appointments have in common?

None of these have a set number on the shelf, but we still want to be able to help you track and sell them!

How Non-Inventory Products Work

Services and other non-inventory products don’t require stock counts. Instead of tracking quantities, Thrive allows you to sell these items without affecting inventory.

You'll find the Track Inventory toggle in the Edit Product Page under the Variants & Defaults Section.

What Happens When Inventory Tracking Is Disabled

When Track Inventory is turned off:

  • Quantities appear only at the point of sale

  • Sales are reflected in Sales Reports

  • Inventory levels are not tracked or adjusted

This makes it easy to sell services without managing stock counts.

Cost & Profit Considerations

Before selling a non-inventory product, be sure to set the default cost if you want it included in reporting.

Important notes:

  • Costs cannot be added later to sales reports

  • Leaving the cost blank (null) means no COGS or profit margin will be calculated

  • Entering a cost of $0 will show the sale as 100% profit

Choose the option that best matches how you want these services reflected in your reports.
