Before Deleting, Please Note:

Critical warnings to understand before you delete anything:

โš ๏ธ Deletion cannot be undone! Deleted products cannot be restored to your catalog. If you delete a product by accident, you will need to recreate it from scratch.

Deletion is across all locations: It will also remove the product from any connected integrations (e.g., your POS) and Thrive.

History is preserved: Inventory history and sales history will be preserved in reports. In other words, deleting an item will not affect your history (except for products with Inventory Tracking disabled).

Plan carefully: Plan deletions carefully to ensure no critical inventory data is lost unnecessarily. When in doubt, don't delete!

One-by-One

Deleting the Entire Product

You'll find the Delete button at the bottom of the Edit Products page.

WARNING: Deleting a product this way will also delete all its variants.

Deleting Individual Variants from a Product

  1. Go to the Variants & Defaults section of the page

  2. Find the variant you want to delete

  3. Scroll right to the gear wheel

  4. Select "Remove Variant"

If it's the last variant of a product, we recommend recreating it. A simple product changed to a complex one (with multiple variants or attributes) can only be reverted by recreating it.

Deleting Attribute Options from a Product

  1. Go to the Variants & Defaults section of the page

  2. Click "Edit Attributes"

  3. Click the minus (-) sign near the option

If it's the last option for an attribute, you will not be able to remove it.

In addition, attribute sets cannot be removed, but they can be edited.

If you are trying to delete an attribute entirely and cannot repurpose it for another, we recommend recreating the product entirely.

Much like a simple product that has been changed to a complex one (with multiple variants or attributes) cannot be reverted back to a simple product, adding attributes is no different.

In Bulk

  1. Navigate to your Products page.

  2. Click Actions > Delete Variants option.

  3. Use the filters to narrow down your search and simplify the deletion task.

  4. Select the products you want to delete and confirm the deletion.
