Thrive has two options for generating a unique SKU number for your products or entire inventory.
Generate SKUs By Product
From the Product Details Page
With the Product Details Page, under the Actions Menu, you can select Generate SKUs, this will automatically generate SKUs for all variants without one.
Alternatively, you can select variants, then click Generate SKUs, or generate SKUs for specific variants by clicking on the wand icon within that field!
Additional Bulk Actions Available
After selecting some or all variants, you can also:
Copy SKU to the Barcode field
Copy Barcode to the SKU field
The latter two options are useful for when you want to same identifier in both fields
Generate SKUs In Bulk (Advanced task)
From the Settings tab > Advanced tab, you can generate SKUs for all products that don't currently have one, all at once.
Click the Generate SKUs for all products without SKUs task. Here's a quick video 🎥 on how to complete that process.
Thrive-Generated SKU Details
Thrive-generated SKUs:
Are 12 digits long and begin with 0 or 1
Can be used for Tag/Label printing as they meet formatting requirements for generating a visual barcode
Are not registered GS1 barcodes
Sync to your register and are searchable/scannable at the point of sale
Important notes:
Tags or labels generated from the SKU field will not scan on Shopify POS
For Shopify POS scanning, use the Barcode field instead
The first 6 digits of a Thrive-generated SKU are linked to the Category field. This means that all variants will have the same first 6 digits if they're all in the same category. The following digits are randomized.
