Thrive has two options for generating a unique SKU number for your products or entire inventory:
Individually (Edit Products page)
From the Products page, click your desired product to get to its "Edit Products" page.
Click the "Generate SKU" link (shown below) in the Variants & Defaults section.
This will create a new SKU for the product, and we'll ensure the number doesn't conflict with any others in your account.
If you'd like to use the Barcode field instead, simply click the Generate Barcode text.
In Bulk (Advanced task)
From the Settings tab > Advanced tab, you can generate SKUs for all products that don't currently have one, all at once.
Click the Generate SKUs for all products without SKUs task. Here's a quick video 🎥 on how to complete that process.
Thrive-generated SKUs
Are 12 digits long and begin with 0 or 1.
Can be used for Tag / Label Printing as the protocol meets the requirements for generating a visual Barcode.
Are not registered GS1 barcodes.
Will sync to your register and should be searchable/scannable at the point of sale.
Tags/Labels generated from the SKU field will not scan on the Shopify POS. Instead, use the Barcode field.
The first 6 digits of a Thrive-generated SKU are linked to the Category field. This means that all variants will have the same first 6 digits if they're all in the same category. The following digits are randomized.
