Inventory tracking controls whether Thrive monitors and updates the quantity of a product. When tracking is enabled, Thrive automatically deducts quantities when products sell and syncs stock levels to your integrations.
Most physical products should have tracking enabled. Tracking should only be disabled for services and non-inventory items that don't have physical stock quantities.
How Inventory Tracking Works
When inventory tracking is enabled, Thrive records the current quantity of the item. When the product sells, or inventory is received, the quantity will be adjusted and Thrive will sync those quantities to your connected and enabled integrations. The product will appear on inventory reports with quantity data.
For example, if I sell hats, having tracking turned on will tell me how many hats are currently on the shelf at any given time. When one is sold, we'll deduct one from our quantity and ensure it's syncing out to your integrations.
If a product's tracking is disabled, we won't be tracking those units, and they will not appear on your inventory report. The product can still be available at your point of sale, but quantity is not tracked in Thrive.
When should it be turned off?
Usually, only in the cases of Services & Non-Inventory Products. For example, if I give haircuts, I don't want to track the quantity of "haircuts" I have.
How do I turn tracking ON for ALL my Products?
Go to the Advanced tab in the 'Settings' section of Thrive and start the task labeled "Enable inventory tracking for all variants":
How do I turn it OFF or ON by Product
Turn off inventory tracking for those products on the Product Details page.
Click on any product from the Products or Variants View of the catalog on which you would like to turn off inventory tracking. Scroll down to the Inventory section, and toggle the 'Track Inventory' button to off.
Inventory Tracking vs. Active/Inactive Status
Tracking disabled is different from inactive products:
Track Inventory = OFF:
Product is still available for sale
Quantities are not tracked
Product doesn't appear on inventory reports
Sales data is still recorded
Product Status = Inactive:
Product is NOT available for sale
May or may not have tracking enabled
Doesn't appear at point of sale or on e-commerce site
Still appears in Thrive for internal reference
