FAQ: New Catalog Experience

All the answers to the most frequent questions about the new Catalog.

Why does the catalog look different?

We rebuilt the Thrive Inventory catalog from the ground up based on your feedback.

Instead of one view trying to do everything, you now have three focused layouts: Products, Variants, and Bins.

Each one is designed around a specific task so you can get in, do what you need, and move on faster.


What are the three views, and when should I use each one?

  • Bins view is for seeing inventory quantities across all your locations and making location-specific adjustments. It's especially useful if you manage stock across multiple stores or warehouses

Why is it called “bins”?

  • "Bins" is an inventory management term for a specific storage location within a larger location. It's the most granular level of where a product physically lives. A bin could be a shelf, a rack, a drawer, or a section of a warehouse (which is why we’ve added shelf options). In our case, the Bins view reflects that location-specific, granular perspective: one variant, one location, with all the operational detail that comes with it.

  • Products view is for editing full product details, settings, and attributes.

  • Variants view is for quickly updating specific SKUs, sizes, colors, or barcodes without opening each product individually.


Where did my columns go? The layout looks different.

Your columns are still there. They may just not be visible by default in the new layout.

Click the column icon at the top of the catalog to add, remove, or reorder columns.

Your preferences are saved automatically between sessions.


How do I search for a product? Search feels different.

The new search bar works across product names, SKUs, barcodes, and vendor SKUs all at once. You can also use the filters to narrow results by category, vendor, location, and more.

If you're used to a specific search method, try the main search bar first. It's more capable than it looks.


Can I still edit a product from the Bins view?

Yes. You can edit and add to your stock levels, as well as edit location-specific costs, prices, reorder points, and targets. Learn more here.

From the Bins view, you can click into any product to open the full product editor (the Product Details page) by clicking here:

You don't need to switch to the Products view first.

From the Bins view, you can also access the Bins Details page, which gives you even more insights.

Something isn't loading or isn't working the way I expect. What should I do?

Try refreshing the page first. If the issue persists, reach out to our support team via the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of your screen.


Can I switch back to the old catalog experience?

Yes, you can temporarily switch back at any time using the “Switch to Old Experience” button as shown here:

If you want to opt out of the New Catalog Experience for now, you can do that through Marketplace > Built by Thrive.

Most users find the new experience faster once they know where things are, but the choice is always yours.


I used to do [specific task] in the old catalog. How do I do that now?

If something you did regularly isn't obvious in the new layout, reply to any in-app message or contact our team. We can help, and we're actively using feedback to improve the experience, so we want to know what's not working for you.
